PolySource adds New England warehouse

Rapid sales growth has led resin and compound distributor PolySource LLC to add a warehousing site in Ayer, Mass., to serve the New England region.

"Historically, PolySource had been a Midwest company," said Bob Findlen, a plastics materials veteran who joined the Independence, Mo.-based firm last year and now serves as its sales and marketing director. "But now we have customers in other areas and needed a warehouse to serve them from the Atlantic to New England.

"We've been successful, so we need warehouses to stock material a little sooner," he added.

PolySource is using a 57,000-square-foot warehouse in Ayer that's owned and operated by Newco Warehouse. The facility has the ability to repackage resin into boxes for delivery, Findlen said.

In a news release, PolySource President Grant John said that Findlen "brings years of experience in the plastics industry to PolySource."

"His technical capabilities when working on new developments have been a large factor in our East Coast success and expansion," John added. Findlen's plastics career dates back to 1981 and includes 20 years with compounder LNP Engineering Plastics.

PolySource now has two East Coast warehouses and 11 total locations spanning across the country. The 24-year-old firm offers a proactive and flexible warehousing and inventory policy, officials said, which allows customers to use PolySource for warehousing at no additional cost.

"Resin companies have left tech support to distributors," Findlen added. "So we try to help our customers find their problems and the solve them. If a customer is having an issue with warehouse space and minimum orders, we can fill smaller orders."

Earlier this year, PolySource took the top spot on the Plastics News 2017 Best Places to Work list. Among many benefits, the firm offers 100 percent paid-for medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage to its 15 employees and their families. The company also contributes $6,000 per year to each employee's health savings account.
