The invention generally relates to a device for producing a packaging precursor, said packaging precursor being composed of a flat composite (200) for at least 80% by weight with respect to the packaging precursor (1000), said flat composite (200) containing: i) a composite synthetic material layer, ii) a composite carrier layer, iii) a first composite edge region, iv) a second composite edge region, a) a level transport device for transporting the flat composite, the transport device having a transport surface designed for supporting the composite; downstream thereof b) a first heating device (103) designed for heating the first composite edge region, the first heating device having energy distribution segments; downstream thereof c) a contacting device designed for joining the first composite edge area to the second composite edge area; the first heating device (103) being designed to distribute energy in the direction of flow. The invention also relates to a method, a packaging precursor obtained according to said method, to a packaging precursor and to the use of the device.
