AUTOMOBILE AIRBAG HOUSING MANUFACTURING METHOD
An automobile airbag housing manufacturing method is provided. The automobile airbag housing manufacturing method comprises: a step of heating a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic plastic composite material; a compression molding step of compressing the heated fiber-reinforced thermoplastic plastic composite material, thereby forming a housing body, one surface of which is open so as to delimit a containing portion that contains an airbag in a folded state; a step of inserting the housing body into an injection mold; and an injection molding step of injecting a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic plastic composite material, which has a strength lower than that of the fiber-reinforced thermoplastic plastic composite material that forms the airbag body, into the injection mold into which the housing body has been inserted, thereby forming a reinforcement structure that surrounds the housing body, the outer surface of the bottom portion of the housing body, and the outer surface of the side portion of the housing body. The above configuration can make the airbag housing lightweight, can secure physical characteristics customized to impacts applied when the airbag is deployed or to high/low-temperature use environments, and makes the airbag easy to manufacture.
