Röchling Sustaplast opens €5m logistics centre expansion
German plastics processing group Röchling Sustaplast SE & Co. KG has inaugurated its new logistics centre in Lahnstein, Germany, to support the company’s growing business.
In an 11 May statement, the company said that with the €5m investment, the existing 3,100-square-metre hall was extended by a 900-square-metre shipping area as well as a 3,000-square-metre hall area, more than doubling its original size.
“The investment was necessary due to the dynamic growth in our business volume over the past few years,” said Franz Lübbers, executive vice president Röchling Group and CEO Industrial Division during the opening ceremony.
The new logistics centre, he added, will help “significantly improve” delivery capacity, optimise internal processes and offer customers a higher level of service.
According to Röchling, the new building’s layout accelerates internal workflows and further improves customer service.
The warehouses, for instance, are equipped with high racks, in which the products are entered and removed from storage using picking trucks specifically designed for this purpose.
At the same time, the internal transport paths and times for the storage, provision and shipping of products was also minimised.
Röchling Sustaplast manufactures semi-finished products (including sheets, round rods, tubes), profiles as well as near net shape cast parts and customised machined components made from high-performance plastics for technical applications.
