Polyolefins: Extensive fire in Durban warehouse / Loss of all PP, LDPE and LLDPE export stocks of Sasol

Polyolefins: Extensive fire in Durban warehouse / Loss of all PP, LDPE and LLDPE export stocks of SasolAs a result of a major warehouse fire in the South African city of Durban last week, Sasol (Johannesburg / South Africa; www.sasol.com) lost all its export stocks of PP, LDPE and LLDPE. All deliveries for March and April are affected, including those to Europe. According to a customer letter, Sasol says it is currently examining the exact extent of the volume loss in order to correlate this with open export orders.

It is clear that all PP quantities have to be re-scheduled, as soon as the stock levels can be replenished ex-production. The delivery delays are estimated to be at least 8 to 12 weeks, according to the company. The effects on PE exports are still under discussion.31.03.2017 Plasteurope.com [236618-0]
