APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR BATCH FORMING OF COMPOSITE T-STRINGERS
An apparatus and method for batch forming of composite T-stringers. The apparatus comprises a core mold platform (1) and a core mold assembly. The core mold assembly comprises a fixed core mold (21) and two movable core molds (22) arranged side by side on two sides of the fixed core mold (21), wherein the fixed core mold (21) comprises two first L-shaped cavities (211), which are formed side by side and are mirror images of each other; and each movable core mold (22) comprises a second L-shaped cavity (222) in communication with a first L-shaped cavity (211) adjacent thereto. When the movable core molds (22) are at an open-mold position, the fixed core mold (21) and the movable core molds (22) preform, by means of a hot-diaphragm preforming operation, L-shaped blanks from composite prepreg sheets placed therein; and when the movable core molds (22) are at a closed-mold position, legs of the L-shaped blanks in the two movable core molds (22) are respectively fitted to legs of the L-shaped blanks in the fixed core mold (21) that are adjacent thereto, thereby simultaneously forming two composite T-stringers.
