Thyssenkrupp becomes a 'toii' maker

Thyssenkrupp Materials Services has developed a digital platform called “toii” that connects machines of different brands and platforms — prounded “toy,” Toii is the backwards spelling of an acronym for Industrial Internet of Things.

ThyssenKrupp likes the “toy” term because officials of the German company say the new platform makes linking machines “child’s play.” The company developed toii completely in-house by company software engineers, and tailored it to the specific requirements of the Materials Services group.

Thyssenkrupp Materials Services specializes in material distribution, logistics and services, as well as services for industrial plants — including plastics, tube and pipes and steel. The company’s services include processing and logistics, warehouse and inventory management, supply chain and project management.
